David Collins Joins Wrexham Property Meet – 27th November 2014
It was fantastic to welcome David Collins from our local Credit Union in Wrexham to the November meet up as well as some new faces; namely Rosie, Darren Williams (IFA for AFL Wealth Management Ltd) and Mark Heywood (Watts Commercial Finance Ltd) as well as welcoming back our usual attendees !
David gave an overview of the Credit Union and went into some detail regarding the ‘Rent Direct’ account where a tenant’s LHA (Local Housing Allowance) is sent to a ring fenced account in the tenant’s name each fortnight. An e-mail is then sent directly to the landlord confirming the amount that has been paid by way of LHA and every four weeks the total amount received in LHA is sent directly to the landlord’s bank account less a deduction of £5 per tenant which is for the Credit Union admin fee.
Tenants need to open an account with the Credit Union and can do so online at www.northwalescu.co.uk ,there is also a form for the tenant and landlord to complete which authorises the tenant’s LHA to be paid directly from their Credit Union account into the landlord’s account.
It’s fair to say that we’ve been using the Credit Union’s ‘Rent Direct’ account now for the past 4 years or so and have found it invaluable and we can’t recommend it highly enough ! As mentioned above, Darren Williams and Mark Heywood were present at the meeting and were able to provide advice to people on the current BTL mortgages on the market including what deals are on offer. It is hoped that they will be able to attend future meetings and keep us up to date with all the recent developments in the mortgage market.
We are in the process of compiling a list of people to invite to our meetings in the New Year to speak to the group. In addition, we have been invited to do an interview on Calon FM on the 8th January 2015 at 10am so tune in if you’re able to ! Hopefully it will be a great opportunity for us to promote the property meet and get more people to attend.
We look forward to seeing you all again in the New Year as well as welcoming some new members.
