Wrexham Property Meet Welcomes Siôn & Claire – 30th October 2014
It was great to welcome Siôn Wynne from Wrexham Council who is the Housing Partnership Officer and Claire Morris from Offa (part of the Pennaf Housing Group) to the meeting.
In addition it was good to see a new member there; Peter as well as our usual attendees.
Siôn updated the group regarding the new Loan Scheme, the paperwork for which has now gained approval. In essence this is aimed at both empty properties and for the improvement of properties and is interest free. There are fees involved which are between £295-£495 where the loan relates to an empty home and 15% of the contract price where the loan relates to home improvement. In addition the maximum amount of loan will be £25,000 over a maximum term of 7 years. There will be criteria to be applied when applying for these loans and I have asked Sion to pass these on to me so that I can in turn forward them on to everyone. Siôn also went on to explain about the forthcoming training opportunities for landlords in the Wrexham area which are hopefully going to be put on before Christmas…..watch this space !
Claire explained to the group about the services that Offa provide, namely lettings and property management and handed out leaflets which provided a more detailed insight as well as business cards for anyone wishing to utilise their services.
Siôn has promised to come back and speak with us further at a future meeting as he had to rush off to another meeting that day.
We also hope to track down some other members of the council to come and speak at our meetings in relation to housing benefits, etc and will be inviting a member of our local Credit Union to come and apprise the group regarding the services they can offer.
